What’s Super Ban for Nintendo Switch and how to avoid it with SX OS V1.6?

It’s a new challenge for switch hacking, Big N has announced Nintendo has elevated Switch hacking bans to “super bans”, and recently, Team Xecuter updated SX OS to V1.6, and introduced stealth mode to player for avoiding being banned. So, What’s Super Ban for Nintendo Switch and how to avoid it with SX OS V1.6? On the below, you can find the information.

What’s Super Ban for Nintendo Switch?

The Switch hacking scene has been steadily growing since the console launched last year. Within the last few weeks, we’ve reported on a few of the happenings in this digital underworld, primarily relating to Nintendo’s efforts to fight against them. It turns out the fight is far from over, as the Big N has recently pulled a serious maneuver.

We’ve talked before about how Nintendo has been banning hacked systems from accessing the eShop and playing online. But, it turns out that these bans have been upgraded to “super bans”.

Super bans involve Nintendo completely stopping a console from accessing its CDN (Content Distribution Network). When a Switch console is hit with this, it stops the system from being able to natively access Nintendo’s servers for re-downloads of archived software and firmware updates. Now that these restrictions have been put in place for consoles with previously regular bans, it’s going to make things a whole lot more complicated for hackers. Still, notice that I’ve kept saying that these bans affect the “console”.

It turns out that the restriction of not being able to re-download games can be circumvented when using another device, as the actual Nintendo Account is not completely banned (although this has happened according to some folks who’ve experienced an account ban before, but this seems to be a rare occurrence).

While it’s good that Nintendo is giving nefarious hackers their just deserts, this move does have the potential to create an unintended negative side effect on innocent customers. As some who’ve been reacting to this news have pointed out, these super-banned systems can be sold on the second-hand market. If that happens, the innocent buyers wouldn’t know about the super ban, and will essentially end up with an almost completely non-functional Switch. There’s no telling how many cases like this will come up, but hopefully it turns out to be very few. Thus, be extra careful when buying a used Switch. But, the even bigger moral to this story is to avoid hacking altogether. No matter how many benefits you think there are, Nintendo is clearly dead set on creating far more pitfalls for those that choose to go this route.

Nintendo starts banning Switch hackers from online services

Since the Nintendo Switch launched, the hacking community has diligently scoured for ways to exploit the system architecture to play homebrew games and ROMs. You may want to think twice before attempting to hack your Switch, though, as Nintendo appears to be issuing bans to users it catches hacking the console.

The online services ban prohibits access to the eShop, playing online games, interacting with friends, and posting to social media. Interestingly, the news channel, which provides updates on new games, still works as expected, and banned consoles can still receive and download game updates and patches.

If you play pirated Nintendo Switch Games Online, Nintendo also will ban You. Games, both on physical cards and digital downloads, have their own encrypted certificates that identify them as legit. In the case of downloads, the encrypted ticket that’s embedded in the game code also includes info about the console and user who purchased it. Try to play a copy of a game that was purchased on another console and with another account, and boom, your Switch is banned. You won’t even be able to play legit games online.

How to avoid being banned with SX OS V1.6?

Yesterday, Team Xecuter updated SX OS to V1.6, and announced Stealth Mode to avoid being banned. Team Xecuter introduced Stealth Mode to players :

With Stealth Mode enabled your Switch system is not able to send any Switch personal information to Nintendo’s servers while still allowing basic Internet functionality (for eg homebrew). Things like local WiFi play is also still possible!

Keep in mind Stealth Mode is only active when you are running SX OS! If you occasionally boot back into original Switch firmware you may expose yourself to a ban risk if you have modified your Switch system by installing NSP titles for example, so we do not recommend this!

Playing XCI titles in SX OS with Stealth Mode enabled should NOT get you banned when booting/using your original Switch firmware online. This is why we personally prefer our Game Cartridge emulation solution, and so should you!

From what we read, apart from the support of the 32GBs .XCI, probably this version 1.6 filters the IPs of various Nintendo servers but the console continues to log information = just recomunicate with N servers (eg if aired in OFW mode or if you start an SX OS lower than 1.6) the logged data will be sent = all the consequences of the very possible ban.

So if you do not have a BAN yet, there’s a little chance to help you. Depends on you. But anyway, if you’re constantly disconnected from the Internet, you’re in a situation like you’d get a BAN, but maybe even worse, because you’re not connected at all. I have BAN, but I’m still connected, downloading updates to the games, and reading the news that is displayed in the menu.

Anyway, if you ever want to connect to the Internet, the console already has stored information about the CFW you use, so you’ll get the BAN anyway. This may slightly delay (if not eliminate) the receipt of BAN. From my point of view, it’s nice from the Xecuter team, but I think there’s still a lot of stuff going on Nintendo servers, and it’s not quite possible to cut it 100%. And even some complete erasure is not possible at the moment. Although, why not, I would certainly welcome it, but I do not take it as something important.

All in all, Big N has elevated Switch hacking bans to “super bans”, Team Xecuter also updated the SX OS to V1.6 , it’s a chance or way to avoid being banned, playing XCI titles in SX OS with Stealth Mode enabled should NOT get you banned when booting/using your original Switch firmware online. It looks like Nintendo has been expanding the efficiency of BAN and now it’s not banned consoles capable of total connection to Nintendo servers, or even those from which game updates go. We will see how this develops further and what information will come. Anyway, FreeShop does not even work today.
